Eight weeks ago, I would have never dreamed of the experience that I had during my time as an intern at Terminus. If you had told me that I would be excited about being in an office from nine to five every day, I probably would have laughed in your face. However, when this is your view from your desk and these are the faces that surround you, it is easy to see how that has quickly become the case.
Throughout my time here, I have become all too familiar with account-based marketing and the effectiveness of flipping the traditional B2B marketing funnel. I read Account-Based Marketing For Dummies and summarized the content into an online database used for ABM University.
I collaborated on a huge project for the ABM Cloud relaunch.
I got to see my writing come to life on the Terminus blog through the “How To” series. I contributed to drafting and researching Sangram Vajre’s “10 Ways Running a Startup Is Just Like the Olympics” post on Inc.com.
I captured and edited the headshots of our 80 “Terminators” and mastered my skills in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
However, my intern duties extended much further than the screen of a computer and the lens of a camera. I attended events, happy hours, and popped champagne in the office at 3:00 in the afternoon when Terminus won Best Places to Work from The Atlanta Business Chronicle.
I personally decorated birthday cakes for fellow co-workers when Kroger’s decorator was out of town. Who knows, my next potential career move could be a co-star on Cake Boss… Stay tuned.
I witnessed dance parties in the middle of the office and award-worthy Titanic reenactments (shout out to Steph).
And the best part? I got to wear whatever I want to work every day (t-shirts included and even encouraged).
No business suits. No high heels. If that isn’t a perk, I don’t know what is. (I may have gotten a few sideways looks from the old-school businessmen and women in the building…but so worth it.)
I have learned more valuable knowledge from this internship than I ever received in a classroom. I was respected, supported, and valued by each and every employee. Terminus is a place that your uniqueness is celebrated and even encouraged. Every single “Terminator” brings something different to the table. There is energy, passion, and drive in each and every individual here.
I cannot say enough good things about the culture of this company and I am very lucky to have been a part of it. It is no surprise that The Atlanta Business Chronicle named Terminus the #1 Best Place to Work, because there is no arguing that.
Although my time at Terminus is coming to an end, I know that the relationships that I formed and the mentors that I have met will leave a lasting impact on me and the future of my career. They are not only my co-workers; they have become family. Terminus is a special place to be, and I am excited to see the growth of the company and the Terminator family for years to come. Keep driving those Ferraris!
