In May of 2015, I wrote an article on the Heinz Marketing blog titled The Race To Create The First Account-Based Marketing Category. This post invited companies like Gartner, Forrester, G2 Crowd, TrustRadius, and SiriusDecisions to openly share the solutions they thought would fit well in this category.
Although account-based marketing as a software category is still in the early stages of development and there is much debate about the best way to implement it, we at Terminus and others in the space are doing ground-breaking work to drive widespread adoption in the B2B marketing world.
Well, our work is finally paying off, and I am beyond excited to share that…
G2 Crowd answered the call by becoming the first company of its kind to publicly recognize account-based marketing as a category.
We helped select the list of companies, happily including every one of our competitors because we genuinely feel that recognition of the category is far more important than recognition of any single company.
There is no doubt that account-based marketing is the future of B2B marketing. According to SiriusDecisions, 92% of companies see the value of ABM, but only 20% have been using it for more than a year. Those that have been using it, however, are seeing serious results. In fact, our customers have seen their conversion rates increase by up to 200% since implementing an account-based strategy.

Now that I’ve sold you on how big account-based marketing is becoming, let’s take a look at some of the companies that G2Crowd recognized in the account-based marketing category:
- Azalead
- Demandbase
- Engagio
- Fliptop
- Infer
- Kwanzoo
- Lattice Engines
- LeanData
- Marketo
- Vendemore
- Terminus
You can view the complete list here. While you’re at it, we would love it if you left us a review!
Congratulations to all my account-based marketing friends!
I want to give a huge shout-out to all my friends and competitors in the ABM space. Thank you for everything you are doing day in and day out to help build this awesome category and help the next generation of B2B marketers drive revenue — and not just leads.
And finally, I’d be crazy if I didn’t also give a big thanks to G2 Crowd for seeing the value in the account-based marketing category. I can’t wait to watch other companies follow suit as we bring ABM to the mainstream.

The sheer number of account-based marketing solutions can be overwhelming — but it doesn’t have to be that way. To solve this problem, we created the Account-Based Marketing Cloud, a resource for B2B marketers seeking ABM tools to help them identify, expand, engage, advocate, and measure.
